THE BRIGANTINES:

The Brigantines are a Surf-Pop group from Red Bank, NJ - combining the classic surf sounds of The Beach Boys and The Ventures with the pop-sensibility of The Kinks and Chris Isaak.

Last summer, we spent our days taking the 'White Whale' (Aaron's '75 Caprice convertible) down the Jersey Shore, and our nights under the lights of New York City. We decided to put our experiences into song.

The result? 'Next Summer' EP.

The songs are about losing yourself, your Ray-Bans, and your mind over a beautiful British girl you met at a rock show in the city.

We recorded the EP over 5 days in Aaron's basement. We cleared out all of the old Macs and set up a nice practice space/recording room with every piece of gear we own. The entire EP was recorded in Logic Pro on a Macbook with 3 borrowed microphones.

We followed up the EP with another home-recorded single, 'Take You Home' just 6 weeks later. Tracked in the wake of Hurricane Irene, the song is about finding love as a guest at a good friend's wedding. True story.

In early 2012, we hit the studio again to record our next single, 'Sunset Motel'. In this one, the girl gets away with our hearts, guitars, wallets, and Ray-Bans. On the B-side is 'Change Your Mind' - a bittersweet ballad about a difficult time in a relationship - lived, written, and recorded in New Jersey.

In the spring of 2012, we remixed and remastered the EP and singles and recorded 5 new songs (including 3 instrumentals) for our first full-length album 'Vacation!' - which is available now!

We launched the album with a gig supporting 'The King of Surf Guitar' Dick Dale at the legendary Joey Harrison's Surf Club. 

In August of 2012, we made a video for 'Ray-Bans'. Filmed in Asbury Park, NJ, the song and video tell a tragic story about losing your favourite sunglasses in a wave.  You can watch it right here. 

We are currently working on a Halloween single and video. Look for that one to release in late October 2012.
